Home / Startup Toowoomba & USQ Partner to deliver WiRE Program for Regional Women in Enterprise

We assist and support RRR women entrepreneurs progressing their business and career dreams. The aim of the WiRE program is to promote and cultivate women entrepreneurship and innovation in rural, regional and remote (RRR) Australia, and particularly Queensland, through delivering an integrated capacity building program. The objective of the WiRE program is to promote entrepreneurship through enhancing individual and organisational awareness, participation, skills, entrepreneurial behaviour, competencies and capacity, building support networks, sharing knowledge, growing resilient communities and creating sustainable change in particularly the Queensland region.

The WiRE program comprises three interconnected phases.

Phase 1

Phase 1 entails the conduct of a baseline survey and case studies to inform the capacity-building program and to showcase successful RRR women entrepreneurs.

Phase 2

Phase 2 consists of 8 capacity building activities, including:

(1) Regional Innovation Popups;

(2) an international/rural/urban connections forum;

(3) a series of webinars;

(4) residential ‘Startup Weekend style events;

(5) mentoring and peer learning digital hubs;

(6) online workshops;

(7) an individualised coaching program; and a

(8) scenario planning workshop with partners/key stakeholders.

Phase 3:

In the third phase the program outcomes are evaluated.

The program endeavours to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and innovative behaviour, create important networks and help maximise participants’ growth in addition to providing them with access to mentors, expert advice, and access to new markets.
